If the fat content is higher than 1% a preliminary extraction of ground material using acetone, hexane or petroleum ether is to be performed. The Coex equipment allows a rapid defatting of samples in the same glass crucibles used with Fiwe 3 and 6 for subsequent crude fiber determination.
